7. What screen size is right for you?
For best results, your screen size should be determined by your viewing distance. We'd encourage you to choose the largest screen size suited to your viewing distance. It's not often we hear people complain about having a screen that's too big.
If you watch a lot of movies and want the bona-fide real cinema experience, nothing beats a projector
What's the best TV size for your viewing distance?
It's how far away you sit that should determine screen-size, not the size of your room.

This screen size guide includes everything from the smallest 15" LCD through to a gargantuan 55" plasma screen.
Should I use a projector instead of a TV?
If you watch lots of movies and want a HUGE picture, you might like to consider a projector. They're light, compact and easy to hide away when you're not using them… and WOW, they deliver images up to and over 100 inches huge! That adds a lot of impact to your entertainment experience.
The TV screen-size guide doesn't apply to projectors. At the same distance, a projector image isn't as overwhelming as a TV screen can seem if you're sitting too close. Unlike a TV though, you can adjust a projector's image size to suit your preferences.
If the idea of an enormous screen appeals to you, we'd recommend you read our article choosing the right projector. Just like choosing a TV, there's a lot more than just size to consider.
A screen is just part of the picture
For the most satisfying viewing, sound and picture need to be in balance. A big picture seems odd when accompanied by a modest sound system and a small TV is overpowered by a big sound. For most LCD and plasma screens a sub/sat or bookshelf system is fine, but with a big projector screen you'll want a heftier sound.
