8. Don't throw away your TV just yet!
Ahh, the big-screen life. Now that you've moved on to bigger things, it makes sense to chuck your TV, right? Not so fast...
Projectors are great for movies, gaming, and yes, TV. But before you bin the TV remember:
1. Ambient lighting
While projectors can be used in daylight conditions they are at their best in a darkened or semi-darkened room. Under normal daylight conditions or with full lighting a TV is always bright and easily viewed while a projector image may suffer from fading or reduced "watchability".
2. Lamp Cost
While your average plasma TV has an expected life of between 30,000 – 60,000 hours, the bulb in a projector will need to be replaced on average every 1500 – 4000 hours. While that's a lot of viewing, projector bulbs cost anywhere from $700 – $1500.
